There's more to life than being good at it.

You've worked hard, achieved things you're proud of, and built a life that, in many ways, is pretty good.

And you can be proud of all of that while still wanting something more.

Perhaps you'd like work to take up a little less space in your head, leaving you with the energy to enjoy everything else in your life. You'd like the freedom to make choices that genuinely work for you, and to feel excited about where life could take you next.

Because surely the point of building a good life is getting to enjoy living it?

There's the life you've built. And how it feels to live it.

Sometimes it's realising you've spent half the evening thinking about a meeting that finished hours ago. Or that you've agreed to take something else on, again, when you were already wondering how to get everything done.

It's the decision you've made, then questioned, then gone over another five times in your head. The weekend when you're technically not working but never quite switch off. Or the moment you notice that something you've been working towards for months feels more like relief than celebration.

And sometimes there's nothing particularly obvious you want to change. You enjoy your work, you have a good life, and things are going pretty well. Yet somewhere in amongst it all, you've started wondering whether the next few years might look a little different from the last few.

Perhaps you've noticed that some of the ways you've learned to approach things aren't working quite as well for you as they once did.

And you're beginning to get curious about what you might do differently.

The good stuff isn't just for later.

Imagine finishing a working day and actually being finished. Your mind is on the evening ahead, not the meeting you had at eleven o'clock. You've enjoyed the challenge of your work, and you've still got the energy to enjoy everything else.

Or finding yourself handling something that would once have tied you in knots, and realising afterwards that it wasn't nearly as difficult as you'd imagined. Making decisions, having conversations, taking opportunities, without constantly questioning whether you've got it right.

And then there's everything else.

Dinner with friends where you're properly there. A Saturday that isn't spent recovering from the week. Picking up an interest you've missed, or trying something entirely new just because you fancy it.

And perhaps you start thinking bigger about what you want from life. A new challenge at work, an adventure you've always fancied, a different direction altogether. Or maybe you love the life you've already built and simply want more time and energy to enjoy it.

You can be ambitious, love your work and want to achieve great things. You can also want a life that's full of laughter, connection, adventure and all the things that make you feel really alive.

And the exciting part? You get to decide what that looks like.

Portrait of Jen Goddard

A little about me

I'm Jen Goddard, founder of Soulfire Coaching, and I spent 18 years working as an actuary in financial services before becoming a coach.

I qualified, moved from being a technical specialist into managing and leading people, and navigated the rather spectacular juggling act of a demanding career and raising two young boys.

And by most measures, things were going pretty well.

I had a successful career, a lovely home near the sea and a family I adored. Yet somewhere amongst all the expectations, responsibilities and getting things done, I'd lost a lot of the enjoyment of actually living that life.

I'd become very good at doing what needed to be done, but much less good at noticing what I wanted and what made me happy.

What I had to learn was that my experience of it all mattered. That who I was within my work, my relationships and my family life was every bit as important as what I was doing and achieving. Probably more important, actually.

And as I started paying attention to that, I began rediscovering all those little moments of joy.

In my work, with Mark, with the boys. The everyday moments that make life wonderful, but that I'd somehow stopped noticing or properly enjoying.

I realised I could still be ambitious, love a challenge and care about doing a good job, while also genuinely enjoying the life I was creating along the way.

That experience is a huge part of why I love the work I do now.

I bring the analytical thinking and firsthand experience of corporate life, alongside years of coaching and a genuine fascination with what makes people tick.

I love getting beyond the obvious issue to find out what's really going on. And there's something pretty wonderful about watching someone discover that things they've always believed about themselves, their career or their life might not be quite as fixed as they thought.

There's often a thing beneath the thing.

You might come to coaching wanting to feel more confident, make a difficult decision, change something about your working life or simply figure out what you want next.

And sometimes, there are straightforward, practical things we can do to help.

But often, there's something else going on too.

You know you need to say no, but you keep saying yes. You make a decision, then spend the next three days questioning it. You promise yourself you'll approach things differently next time, only to find yourself doing exactly the same thing again.

There's usually a reason those patterns keep showing up. And knowing what you should be doing doesn't necessarily make it any easier to actually do it.

That's where our work gets interesting.

We explore what's happening, what's driving it, and what you'd really like instead. Bringing together practical strategies with a deeper understanding of yourself, so the changes you make don't just look good on paper. They work in your actual life.

01

See the whole picture

We make sense of where you are now, what you want and what's getting in the way. Sometimes that means looking at a very specific situation. Sometimes it means stepping back and exploring the bigger picture of your life and career.

02

Understand what's underneath

We get curious about the thoughts, emotions, expectations and habits that influence how you respond to things. Often, understanding why you keep doing something is the key to being able to approach it differently.

03

Make it work in real life

Insights are lovely, but they're not much use if nothing changes. We turn what you've discovered into practical steps, try things out, learn from what happens and keep adjusting until you've found an approach that genuinely works for you.

What changes when we work together?

Ways to work together

There's no single right way to make changes in your life. Sometimes you want someone alongside you over time. Sometimes you need a whole day to think. And sometimes there's something wonderful about exploring things with other people.

You might want to feel more confident speaking up, make decisions without endlessly questioning yourself, or stop work taking up quite so much space in your life.

Whatever brings you here, we'll work on the practical challenges you're facing and explore what's driving them, so you can make changes that really last.

This is about more than understanding yourself better. It's about making decisions you trust, handling difficult conversations with confidence, going after the opportunities you want and building a career that works for you and the life you want to live.
